After 24 years I could quit smoking right after I started vaping in 2018, vaping brought me hope, brought me self-esteem and willingness to improve healthy habits.

I started to smoke cigarettes when I was 17 years old. I smoked until 30 years old. 13 years that I’ve seen my health whither away. I tried nicotine patches and Chantix multiple times, with varied success rates but always came back to smoking. In 2019 I’ve acquired my first vape device. I was smoking less and using the vape occasionally. In the 6 months that followed it, I’ve started to prefer the vape rather than smoke until I’ve finally quit. No real effort on my part, to be honest. The taste and smell were back… After a couple of months, my health was already improving. I could climb stairs without losing my breath, sex life improved, my heart wasn’t pounding every now and then. The positive effect of stopping smoking only grew from there. Now that I’m almost 3 years just vaping and having never touched a cigarette since 2019, my lung x-rays and other exams are pretty much normal. Even my skin is better looking, it’s really amazing. I’m very thankful for finding out about vaping, despite a lot of misinformation being around.
My health is better, my life is better and I’ve lowered nicotine usage to numbers I’d never reach while smoking.
I’m happy to share my experience and hope that any smokers out there, if can’t stop on their own, at least turn to vaping instead. I agree entirely that more studies need to be made about long term effects, but whatever it could do, it’s not a fraction of what cigarettes do to our bodies, and I know that first hand.
